Troubleshoot

1: Network Error

Offline

Raydio Radio does not broadcast continuously like conventional radio stations so if we are not broadcasting you will receive a ‘Network Error’ warning.

Online

When we are online, our status will appear on the home page and on the pop-up player.

If the pop-up player indicates we are online and displays the title of the currently playing show or song, (as illustrated) then you are connected to the server.

A ‘network error’ in these circumstances could be one of the following:

  • Poor / weak wi-fi signal (try moving closer to the router or using Ethernet)
  • Security software (Firewall or anti-virus)
  • Browser settings (try amending your browser setting, or even try a different browser) Chrome is reported to be problematic

In some cases, a simple reboot of the router or device may help.

A Network Error can sometimes occur if multiple listeners connect at the same time. Keep trying and eventually you will be connected.

If none of the above work, then please try an alternative player from the list on our How to listen in page.

2: No sound

Many people have reported problems with Google Chrome browser. The problems are not with the browser itself, but with the default settings which are very much set up for security. You have to go into the settings and enable streaming media and enable sound (or use an alternative browser)

3: No player button

The pop-up player button is not available when the station is offline. Once online, the button will turn green to indicate it is live and available.

The player button should be visible and accessible on all devices. Please let us know if you are having problems finding the player button.

4: The pop-up player will not open

The pop-up player use Javascript code to open a player window that is sized to fit within a mobile phone screen. If the pop-up will not open then it is likely due to pop-ups being blocked or restricted.

If you are asked by your browser if you wish to open the window, please select Yes.

If not, you may need to go into your browser settings and allow pop-ups.

5: Can’t log into the chat room

The chat room allows both registered and non-registered (Guest) users.

A Guest user does not require a password, but is stored in the database along with their IP address.

A Registered user requires going through the registration process and creating a password.

Guest Login

If you login as a guest, the system remembers your username along with your IP address. If your IP address changes, then the system will think you are a ‘new’ user and will not allow the same username twice.

Your IP address will change if:

  • You are in a different location to the last time you logged in
  • You switch between wi-fi and mobile data
  • You have a dynamic IP address (quite common)
  • You have changed ISP

If you cannot login using the same username as before, just create a new, unique username.

*Please remember that each username will relate to your IP address (location), for example:

  • bob-home
  • bob-office
  • bob-pub

Registered User

The main advantage of being a registered user is that your account is IP independent enabling you to login from any device in any location using the same username.

To register you will need to click on the Register link and fill in a form with your email address.

Once registered you will be able to add a profile and avatar if you choose.
